Note
When installing on a roof, deck, post or cupola mount, install your mount to your mounting surface. Place the short rod into the tubing of the mount. Tighten the set screw provided on the mount. Slide the directional (NSEW) over the tip of the rod. Set N to North and tighten the set screw. Place the windcups over the tip of the rod ( bearing side facing DOWN). Then slide the top on your weathervane.

We recommend that you place a few drops of light oil on the top of the pole periodically to ensure that the design top will turn freely.

If using a roof style mount, we recommend that you ground your weathervane in case of a lightning strike. Please consult your township for local building codes.

This product has been clear coated for additional beauty and durability.

Our second purchase. Generally a great product, with one flaw.

This is our second purchase of a Quarter Horse Weathervane. We keep moving and building barns! This product has a wonderful painted finish and is sealed with a clear coat. There are multiple mounting options. The bearing in the wind cups helps them spin freely.

Two things would improve upon this product:

#1 - It should come standard with slightly longer post. Another 10-12 inches would allow more flexibility in mounting on a roof and still be able to see it.

#2 - BALANCE THE ANIMAL + ARROW !!! The 2 inch tube that is attached to the bottom edge of the arrow and slips down on the spinner rod just above the wind cups should not be mounted midway across the arrow, but rather at the point that the arrow+animal is weight balanced. It will then spin freely in the wind. Ours was at least 2 inches off from being balanced. It still spins, but applies just a little more pressure on the heavier side. Over time it will wear from the extra weight and spin even less freely. Rule #1 for making weather vanes should be that they are balanced to spin freely. I will service it yearly and re-grease it and hopefully it will always spin.
